Dr. Mayer has been married to Patti since 1978, and both are active in the local church. They have held weekly Friday night home Bible studies at their home for years. Dr. Mayer and his family have attended McGregor Baptist Church since 1988, where he served as an adult Sunday School teacher and on many leadership committees. He plays the trombone, euphonium, and tuba in the church orchestra. His other interests include playing in the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, McGregor Baptist Orchestra, Bonita Springs Concert Band, and the Sousa National Community Band.
Other hobbies include sports of all kinds and flying airplanes. He has flown since 1975 and has owned four airplanes over the years: Cessna 182, Cessna 210, Cessna 414, and Cessna 421. His favorite sports teams are the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Wild. Dr. Mayer is a proud corporate sponsor of local high school sports teams and many other community organizations. And Patti has a home business of the Optavia weight loss program.
Dr. Mayer is also a certified NRA pistol and home defense instructor, presenting classes on gun safety and concealed weapons carry permits. He enjoys trap, skeet, and sporting clay shot activities and occasionally has been known to fish in the Back Bay area.
Dr. Mayer's oldest daughter, Michelle, graduated from Nova Southeastern Dental School in 2008. She spent 10 years in the Navy and retired as a commander. She did a two-year residency at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Pedodontics and now operates and owns a pedodontics dental practice in Huntsville, Alabama (Hampton Cove Pediatric Dentistry). She is married to Ben White, a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force who works for NASA in Huntsville. They have a baby daughter, who was born in May 2023.
Dr. Mayer's second daughter, Natalie, also lives in Huntsville, Alabama, with her husband, Nate, and their five children. Both Nate and Natalie went to Liberty University and received their master's degrees. Natalie works at her church as the head of women's ministry and is a full-time mom who homeschools her kids and has them going to classical Christian School as well. Nate is a principal owner at Brindlee Mountain Fire Service, which rehabs fire trucks and ambulances throughout North America.
Previously a competitive gymnast and cheerleader for 15 years, Dr. Call continues to enjoy both sports when she's not at the office. She also enjoys partaking in her relatively new hobby, deep-sea fishing, which she began doing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
